Two Sci-Fi Titans Clash in a Crossover That Is Way More Than Just Monkey Business

Let’s be honest: when you hear "Planet of the Apes vs. Fantastic Four," your first instinct might be to check if it’s April 1st. It sounds like the kind of Silver Age madness that Stan Lee would have dreamed up over lunch, or perhaps a fever dream from the depths of a fan-fiction forum. But here we are in 2026, and Marvel has not only made this crossover a reality but has also made it genuinely fantastic.

Writer Marc Guggenheim understands exactly what this book needs to be. He doesn't waste time trying to ground the premise in gritty realism. Instead, he leans into the high-concept sci-fi weirdness that connects these two franchises. The story kicks off with a classic Reed Richards experiment gone wrong (as they often do), hurling Marvel's First Family through the time stream and crash-landing them not just in the future, but in the future where humanity has fallen, and apes rule supreme.
