We have seen plenty of stories about retired assassins getting pulled back into the game, but we have never seen one quite like this. Writer Kyle Starks has carved out a niche as the king of action-comedy, and with End of Life #1, he delivers his masterpiece.
The premise is brilliantly simple: the world’s deadliest hitman has finally hung up his guns, not because he had a change of heart, but because his back gave out. He just wants to live out his remaining days in the "Sunset Pines" nursing home, playing bingo and complaining about the soup. Unfortunately, his past has decided to check in for a visit.
What follows is a riotous mix of John Wick and The Golden Girls. Starks writes dialogue that snaps with a rhythm few others can match, finding hilarity in the contrast between gritty noir tropes and the mundane indignities of aging.
